It's OFFICIAL! The St Cloud Disc Golf Club Ice Bowl was the top fundraiser for 2008! Thank you once again to all participants and sponsors for making this event such a success year after year. Stay tuned for 2009 Ice Bowl info.

Well there they are... fortunately their identities are hidden, because to play a round of disc golf in sub-zero temperatures most likely means you are nuts.
Actually they are a group of people dedicated to helping out those in our community who are less fortunate. By gathering up donations that were generously matched by the Central MN Community Foundation, they helped raise $21,200 for Catholic Charities' Emergency Services!
So how cold was it? Here is a picture of the thermometer taken as we were getting things setup for the day.... Yup. TWELVE BELOW just after 8am. And that isn't even taking into consideration the wind! |

Tim Schreder (seen here thawing out and hiding from his fans) managed to shoot a solid 12 under par on the 25 hole course, beating second place finishers Riley Brenner and Travis Mick by 4 shots. Mick is a perennial powerhouse fundraiser for this event but he was unable to fend off Todd Grundhoeffer this year. Todd single handedly brought in over $2,000 in sponsorship money and reclaimed his title as Fundraiser of the Year! Congrats Todd! |
This event takes a lot of hard work and planning. (We have already started for Ice Bowl 2009!) But what makes it all worthwhile is seeing the disc golf community, friends, family, and local businesses working together for a great cause. .... and i'm finally thawed out! Another great Ice Bowl is in the books for the diehard St Cloud Crew. We are still crunching the numbers to find out what the final donation amount will be. What we DO have done is the scores. Check out how the 84 crazy golfers did on the RESULTS page.
Unfortunately nobody hit the $5,000 Ace so we don't have any exciting video to post. (and i'm not going to upload my horrible attempt either....)

What we really need now is for all participants to print out a PLEDGE FORM and let your friends, family members, and co-workers know how important this fundraiser is to our community. Every night on the news we hear about this has been a difficult year for food shelves to keep up with demands. Let's show everyone that Disc Golfers are willing to brave the cold to help support these charities.

Once again the St Cloud Ice Bowl raised the most money of ALL other Ice Bowl events in the world, setting the record for funds raised at $21,610 in 2007! This money goes a long way to help out those less fortunate in our community. It's amazing that one of the most anticipated and attended Disc Golf events of the year is held when the Minnesota winter is at its worst. That is just one of the many things that makes this event so special each year.
